17 Years of Love, Laughter, Irritation and Patience.

This morning started out with an 8am basketball game. I threw my hair in a bun, grabbed coffee and headed into the wild. Girls basketball is something I’m not sure if I’ll ever fully understand. I get the whole ball in the basket thing but it’s the wrestling to the ground for the ball that I don’t get.

We got from the game and it was 9:30ish. I had so many plans for today. I was going to clean and then start putting out some Christmas stuff. Instead I scrolled Facebook for 1/2 an hour before I decided that a morning nap sounded like a winning idea. 3 hours later I finally got up.

He never takes a nap! The sudden toss into winter temps has us feeling sleepy

Today is my 17th wedding anniversary. 17 years married, and 22 years together. That’s literally 1/2 of my life. This guy has seen and done it all. His patience and tolerance for my bullshit is remarkable. After throwing around some ideas of what we were going to do we decided on heading over to the casino for dinner and some slots.

We decided to eat at Shkodé Chophouse. When it’s just the two of us, we never mind sitting at the bar. It’s actually some of the best people watching. Tonight our bartenders were amazing. Chuck ordered an Old Fashioned and the guy literally made a piece of art in a glass. Then he lit a wood coaster looking thing over it to smoke it. It was some boujee shit. The look on the bartenders face when the woman next to use ordered her ribeye medium well was almost as good as when she asked him for Heinz 57.

When it came to the dessert we decided to each get our own. I mean 17 years is a hell of an accomplishment. It definitely justified a crème brûlée and a piece of chocolate cake. When I mentioned that I wanted the creme brûlée Chuck told me that I wouldn’t like it. He said that I’d had it before and didn’t enjoy it. I assured him he was wrong. He ordered the chocolate cake because I know he thought I was not going to be happy with my choice. Well let me tell you something, I ate most of that crème brûlée with a smile on my face. Would I ever tell him I didn’t love it? Absolutely not.

Crème Brûlée with a cotton candy topper and a piece of 7 layer chocolate cake to seal the meal.

After dinner we hit the slots. All in all I think we came out a little under “even.” For the amount of time that we were there, I call it a win. We were in the car, yawning and on our way home at 8pm. We know how to live it up on a Saturday night. Now my electric blanket is pre heating and I’m off to wash my face.
