Nashville Bound

We’ve had this trip planned for months. Who could forget, almost a week in Nashville Tennessee in the middle of July for a baseball tournament? Of course, it doesn’t matter if I knew a year ago, or yesterday. The preparations probably wouldn’t be much different.

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been fighting a bug. That definitely didn’t help. Chuck and I went shopping on Sunday. The intention was to get snacks and food for the trip. We weren’t going to spend a ton of money on junk food at the gas station and no quick drive-throughs. As we stood in the middle of Costco with no list we settled on crescents. I know they aren’t good for you but damn they sure hit different.

It’s been a while since I bought lunch meat. That was a bit of sticker shock. $20 later, I got turkey and ham. I had it sliced thin but it was by no means the bougie stuff. I really wanted ground bologna spread but I got outnumbered. Speaking of getting outnumbered, I wanted to pre-make the sandwiches. My family thought they would get mushy. Instead of having them prepared and ready to go, we would make them on the road. Remember that, it’s important later.

Morning departures are always a shit show. After 20 years we have a pretty good understanding of what needs to be done. I don’t know if I’m the only one like this but when I leave for vacation my house needs to be clean. I know it sounds ridiculous but there can not be a dirty dish, the carpet gets vacuumed and everything is in its place. It drives my kids bonkers.

It’s nice to come home to a clean house

A little after 8am we pulled out of the driveway. The truck is packed to the max. It has everything you might need for a baseball tournament when it’s 100 degrees outside. Wish us luck.
