Death is Dumb

Death is dumb. Ok, Death is inevitable but the word itself is dumb.

My Dad

Death- the act of dying; the end of life; the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism. … the state of being dead: to lie still in death. extinction; destruction: It will mean the death of our hopes.

I had not seen this picture before today. It will be printed soon, for it is my new favorite.

We watched my Dad take his last breath on Christmas Day. There were no hard decisions to make, they were made for us. We knew that as soon as they took him off the machines, his heart would stop beating, his lungs would stop filling, and the world as we knew it would forever be changed.

My 40th birthday

Dad,
I have loved you my entire life, but my adult relationship with you has been priceless. We had a different level of love and appreciation. I didn’t love you because I had to. I loved you because of the effort you made to be present for myself and my kids. I will never forgot all of the times that you showed up. No regrets Dad, we were so blessed. I will continue to do my very best to make you proud, and raise your grandkids to appreciate black coffee, meatloaf sandwiches and properly orginiazed tools.

Love your baby girl
