As I navigate through motherhood my triggers change. “Triggers” meaning the things that drive you absolutely crazy. After almost 25 years of having this gig I’ve learned to not sweat the small stuff. If you don’t want to wear a coat in the middle of winter, don’t. I could care less. If want to grow mushrooms in your shower, go for it. I have my own shower. Now don’t get me wrong, a peanut butter knife or an oatmeal bowl sitting in my sink still drives me crazy but not to the extent that beach towels and Q-tips do.
Beach towels in general are lovely. They serve their purpose well. What I don’t like is how they end up in the laundry well after their intended use. We have plenty of bath towels, that’s not the problem. Every time I fold one I hide it so that it’s out of rotation. They are big, bulky and never dry right. My kids aren’t big, they don’t need a 6ft towel. Oh and they refuse to reuse a towel. Apparently it’s gross to re use a towel that you wiped your clean body with.

The next one that grinds me is Q-tips. Q-tips were the first luxury that I missed when I initially moved out. (The first time, but that’s a story for another day) It was something that I never thought about it was just always there. Sitting in a mason jar on the sink so that when you got out of the shower you could clean your ears. My kids love Q-tips. The problem is they have this thing where after they use them they sit them in my sink. There is a garage can right next to the sink. Unfortunately they never seem to make it there. On any given day there could be 3-4 of those babies just hanging out. It’s equivalent to not changing the toilet paper roll except it’s every damn day.
I found a new candle that I love. Apple Charcoal from Bath and Body Works. Addie and I made a trip to the outlet mall tonight to snag a couple while they were on sale. I went in with good intentions and walked out with 4. It was a really good deal though.

We have a small garden this year. It always starts with good intentions but it’s abandoned by September. There was the smallest little cantaloupe that I had to get a picture of. I think next year we are going to move it so it’s easier to water. I’m sure it has nothing to do with us being lazy.
